The Twin County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2020 Golf Tournament at Blue Ridge Country Club on September 25, 2020. Despite the rain, the tournament brought in 14 teams of 4 and several sponsors from the Twin County region.
The Chamber awarded $1,500 in prizes thanks to their prize sponsors: Homestead Title and Settlement Agency, Senior Home Share, WCGX The Cat, and WBRF Classic Country. Taking home the first place prize of $1,000 was D. Thompson, G. Laird, D. Morgan, and P. Snow. with a score of 54. $300 was awarded to D. Beachy, J. Beachy, G. Beachy, and J. Miller who came in second with a score of 58. $200 to third place finishers J. Beamer, K. Goad, T. Gentry, N. Sage with a score of 60.Thanks to the success of the golf tournament, the Chamber is donating $250 each to the three High School Golf Programs (Carroll, Grayson, and Galax).
Prizes were also awarded to closest to the pin and longest drive on the front and back 9 holes. They received free rounds from New River Country Club, Wytheville Golf Club, Blue Ridge Country Club, Holston Hills Country Club, Draper Valley Golf Club and Thorn Springs Golf Course. The Hole Sponsors for the tournament were: BB&T (now Truist), Eagleview Event Center, Angela Brown & Associates, Country Formals & Gifts, Skyline National Bank, Grayson Express, State Farm – Craig Bowman, Twin County Regional Healthcare, Rotenizer Drapery & Carpet, Access Home Health, Virginia’s I81 and I77 Crossroads, Kendall O. Clay and Ashley L. Wright, Attorneys at Law, and Woodforest National Bank.
The Chamber would like to thank Cliffview Church of God for providing a wonderful lunch for participants and volunteers during the tournament. Also, a special thank you is noted to Blue Ridge Country Club for their hospitality and assistance in planning the tournament as well as coordinating the day-of logistics.
